As an intern at Protomatica R&D, I worked with a team of fellow interns to design, prototype, and assemble a series of 3-axis robotic systems intended for K–8 STEM instruction. This opportunity followed directly from completing a Computer Integrated Manufacturing course, where I became Autodesk Inventor–certified, learned the fundamentals of CNC machining and G-code, and developed a strong foundation in design-for-fabrication; skills I applied immediately in a professional setting.

Using Autodesk Inventor, I helped develop and iterate mechanical components for multiple robot architectures, ensuring designs were both functional and straightforward to assemble for classroom use. The robots included Cartesian, Polar, and SCARA configurations, each designed to demonstrate different motion principles. My work combined CAD modeling with hands-on assembly using FDM 3D-printed parts, bearings, shafts, motors, and linear actuators, followed by physical validation to ensure each system operated reliably once built. All robot motion was driven by motors and programmed using G-code.

The final deliverables were complete robot kits containing all fabricated and purchased components, along with supporting presentation materials used to teach robotics concepts in classroom settings. This experience strengthened my ability to design with manufacturability, assembly, and end users in mind while working collaboratively in a fast-paced, hands-on engineering environment.
